💗 Pink Shirt Day 2026 at Cadotte Lake School

Wâpikwanîwinâkwan Pakowayan Kisikâw – Standing Together in Kindness

Pink Shirt Day at Cadotte Lake School was more than a day to wear pink — it was a powerful reminder of who we are as a school community and the values we stand for.

🌸 The Meaning Behind the Day

Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when two students in Nova Scotia took a stand against bullying by organizing classmates to wear pink in support of a younger student who had been bullied for wearing a pink shirt. What started as one small act of courage has grown into a national movement rooted in kindness, inclusion, and standing up for one another.

At CLS, we honour that spirit in a way that reflects our own identity and teachings.

🦅 A Day Rooted in the 7 Sacred Teachings

This year, our focus connected directly to one of the 7 Sacred Teachings:

Sâhihitowin – Love

Always act in love.
Love the Creator.
Love the Earth.
Love yourself, your family, and your fellow human beings.

Through assembly, student reflections, and a community walk, we reminded one another that kindness is strength. Respect is strength. Standing up for others is strength.

🎤 Assembly at 10:15 AM

Our morning assembly brought students and staff together to reflect on what it truly means to stand up to bullying. Students shared thoughts, listened to teachings, and saw firsthand how small actions can make a big difference.

There was a sense of unity in the room — pink shirts filling the gym, students standing shoulder to shoulder.

🚶 Community Walk at 11:00 AM

After the assembly, we walked together through the community. This walk was a visible message:
We stand together. We protect one another. We choose kindness.

It was powerful to see students walking proudly, representing not only our school, but our shared commitment to respect and care for one another.

💬 More Than a Day

Pink Shirt Day is not just one event on the calendar. It is part of the culture we continue building at Cadotte Lake School — a culture grounded in the 7 Sacred Teachings, in language revitalization, and in supporting every student to feel safe and valued.

When we say we stand up to bullying, we mean it — in our classrooms, on the playground, at home, and in our community.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one act of kindness to start something bigger.

And at CLS, we choose to start with love. 💗
