An Adventure in Learning

Our Grade 5 students recently enjoyed an unforgettable overnight learning experience at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in Wembley, Alberta. The trip gave students the opportunity to step into the world of paleontology, science, and discovery while spending a night surrounded by some of the most fascinating fossils ever uncovered.

Discovering Alberta’s Prehistoric Past

Students began their visit by exploring the museum’s interactive exhibits, learning about Alberta’s rich prehistoric history and the incredible dinosaurs that once roamed the region millions of years ago. They discovered how continents have changed over time, examined fossils up close, and learned how scientists study ancient life through paleontology.

Behind the Scenes in the Fossil Lab

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the museum’s fossil preparation lab, where students saw real fossils being cleaned, studied, and preserved. They learned about the careful work that goes into preparing fossils for research and display and even had the opportunity to see dinosaur bones that are still being analyzed by scientists today.

Hands-On Exploration

Throughout the museum, students participated in hands-on activities that encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and teamwork. From digging for fossils and examining ancient specimens to solving challenges and exploring interactive displays, students were fully engaged in the learning experience.

A Night to Remember

The overnight stay added an extra layer of excitement as students spent the evening exploring exhibits, sharing discoveries with friends, and creating memories together. Sleeping in a museum surrounded by dinosaur fossils was an experience many students will never forget.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Trips like this help bring classroom learning to life by connecting science, history, and exploration in meaningful ways. We are proud of our Grade 5 students for representing Cadotte Lake School so well and for embracing every opportunity to learn.

A special thank you to our staff, chaperones, and the team at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum for making this incredible educational experience possible.
