This summer, our high school students traded the classroom for the rugged beauty of Goldeye Lake and the surrounding Rockies—and returned with stories of courage, teamwork, and discovery. Here’s a look back at the unforgettable experiences that have defined our Mountain Adventure Camp, each grounded in the principles of our Way of Life Teaching.
Canoeing Under the Pines
Our adventure began on the glassy waters of Goldeye Lake, where Paddle Canada instructors guided students through the fundamentals of canoeing. With each powerful J‑stroke and coordinated paddle turn, campers learned balance, communication, and water safety. Sunlight danced across the waves as first‑time paddlers found their rhythm—proving that when we work together, we can navigate any current.
Forest Trails & Teamwork
Lace‑up boots and hit the trail! Students embarked on guided hikes through towering evergreens and along moss‑lined creeks, practicing navigation, observing wildlife signs, and strengthening bonds as they moved as a team. Every step in the forest brought lessons in patience, respect for the land, and the rewards of collective effort.
Riding the Rapids
Next up, our explorers tackled the river’s rapids in inflatable rafts—paddles poised and hearts racing. Shouts of excitement echoed off the canyon walls as they navigated Class II and III waves. Beyond the thrills, this white‑water journey reinforced resilience: even when splashed or tipped, everyone climbed back in and continued paddling together.
Conquering the Climbing Wall
On solid ground, the rock‑climbing wall tested focus, problem‑solving, and trust. Roped in for safety, campers plotted each ascent—handhold by foothold—celebrating every reach and shared high‑five at the summit. It was a vivid lesson in setting goals, managing fear, and discovering strength you didn’t know you had.
First Aid & CPR Certification
Safety and preparedness are core to any adventure. That’s why each camper completed a First Aid & CPR course led by certified instructors. From recognizing emergencies to practicing life‑saving techniques, students gained vital skills they can carry into any setting—outdoors or at home.
What’s Next?
Our Mountain Adventure Camp isn’t over yet. In the days to come, we’ll dive into wilderness cooking challenges, advanced navigation exercises, and encore hikes to hidden lookouts. As our campers continue to learn and grow, they carry forward the Way of Life Teaching values of respect, responsibility, and community spirit.
Thank you to everyone who made these experiences possible—and to our students, for embracing every challenge with open hearts and determined spirits. Stay tuned for more stories from the trail!
