Cadotte Lake School Kitchen Renovations: Building a Space for Learning, Community, and Opportunity
In partnership with the Chamandy Foundation
At Cadotte Lake School, every improvement we make to our building is really an investment in our students. This year, we’re excited to share a major upgrade that will have a lasting impact on learning, wellness, and school spirit: our kitchen renovations are underway, thanks to a valued partnership with the Chamandy Foundation.

This renovation is more than a construction project. It’s about creating a space that supports real-life learning, strengthens connections, and gives students hands-on experiences that matter.
A Kitchen That Supports More Than Meals
For many of our students, the school kitchen is a place where important things happen beyond cooking. It’s a place where students build confidence, learn responsibility, work as a team, and experience the pride that comes from creating something with their own hands.

With these renovations, we’re improving the kitchen to better support:
- Student cooking and nutrition programs
- Food preparation and safe handling skills
- Cultural learning opportunities through food
- Special community events and gatherings
- Hands-on learning connected to life skills and independence
A modern, functional kitchen makes it easier to offer meaningful experiences for students at all grade levels.
Why This Renovation Matters
A safe, upgraded kitchen helps us deliver programming that aligns with both education and well-being. Students learn best when they’re engaged, and food-based learning is one of the most powerful hands-on opportunities we can provide.
Kitchen programming can support:
- Math skills (measuring, timing, budgeting)
- Reading and comprehension (recipes, instructions, sequencing)
- Science learning (temperature, reactions, nutrition)
- Confidence and collaboration (working in groups, planning, sharing roles)
- Healthy routines and food awareness (choices, ingredients, preparation)
These are skills students carry into adulthood—at home, in the workplace, and in the community.
Thank You to the Chamandy Foundation
We want to extend a sincere thank you to the Chamandy Foundation for partnering with us and supporting this project. Their contribution is helping Cadotte Lake School strengthen our learning spaces in a way that students will benefit from for years to come.
Partnerships like this create real change. When organizations invest in schools, they’re investing in youth, in future success, and in communities as a whole.
Looking Ahead
As the renovations continue, we’re looking forward to everything this improved space will allow us to do. From classroom cooking projects, to special visitors and community meals, to building skills that support student growth—this kitchen will become an even stronger part of our school experience.
We can’t wait to share more updates as the project progresses.
Thank you again to the Chamandy Foundation for helping make this possible.
